Holland Thomas was pleased to present a mini workshop at Melbourne CAREX 2014.
Within the context of increasing volumes of care being provided for clients in their homes a growing segment of the Australian workforce is exposed to aggressive or violent behaviour because of the nature of their work.
This session put in to perspective the preliminary findings uncovered in the 2013 Home Care, Community Care and Outreach Staff Safety Survey.
We discussed contextualised solutions for community service providers to effectively manage safety challenges, incident reporting, the need to empower staff who work alone to make better decisions about their safety, and the effectiveness of training that organisations provide to their staff, and My Safety Buddy.
